| Vinny started his life as a racehorse. He worked as a "plater" until his legs literally gave out. We were contacted by a trainer about Vinny. He would have gone to slaughter the next day if we hadn't taken him. Vinny's injuries took over a year to heal. Last summer, he injured his knee and spent several more months on stall rest. Just when it looked like Vinny could finally enjoy some time back in the pasture with his buddies, he developed a UTI. While undergoing antibiotic treatment for the infection, he colicked and ruptured an intestine, dying before the vet could arrive. His loss will be felt by humans and horses alike. Vinny was always the herd leader, so his absence will not go unnoticed by any of the other horses. We will be setting up a non-profit equine rescue and education program in his honor. Please contact us if you would like to contribute to Vinny's Herd. | |
